Pause for Thought - From Day by Day with God by Fiona Barnard

Sabbath Rest

Once a week, we are given the opportunity to step back and focus afresh on our loving Father; to share with others the gifts of food, love and laughter; to tell the stories of Jesus; to reorient our priorities; to breathe in the air of God’s Spirit; to revel in his creation brimming over with colour and texture and shapes.  This is his Sunday box, given to thrill and renew, to bring joy and to strengthen relationships.  But we need to open it.  We must set our other gadgets aside.  As we make it a non-negotiable rhythm of our week, we discover God’s goodness overflowing to the other six days.

Contrary to popular opinion, if I stop for a day the world will not shudder to a halt, the shops will not run out of stock and the email inbox will not explode with overload.

Hope you all have a good summer holiday.  God Bless.
